Artist Statement

I love fabric.  I took my first quilting class at a local quilt shop after seeing the displays of all the amazing cottons.  I love the patterns, and the colors, and the textures, and how individual pieces come together in different shapes and combinations to make a whole new cloth.  In designing quilts and toys, I enjoy working with people to understand what colors they like and what patterns they are drawn to.  I want each item to be personal, unique, and meaningful.

When I need to relax or decompress from whatever is going on around me, I tell my Mom, “I need some quiet time.”  For me, that means a time to be still, without distraction.  It may mean taking a nap in my bed, which is my sanctuary, or doing something creative.  Essentially, this is the idea behind Quiet Time Quilts.  When I create, I am in “quiet time.”  And I hope that the child (or adult!)  who receives one of my pieces enjoys their own form of quiet time, whether they are wrapping themselves in it while reading a story or snuggled up with it while napping.

I work with 100% cotton fabric, batting and binding using fabrics that I have collected over many years.  Each item can be personalized by color selection or name (quilts only).  Stuffed items are filled with polyester fiberfill (and sometimes pellets), mung beans, or rice.
